It wouldn’t be summer without The Lansdowne Club’s iconic Summer Party, and this year’s event, Grecian Nights, was nothing short of spectacular.
Set in the heart of Mayfair, the Club occupies one of London’s most remarkable historic buildings, a neoclassical mansion designed in 1761 by renowned architect Robert Adam for John Stuart, the third Earl of Bute. Originally commissioned to bring a lighter, more refined aesthetic to Georgian architecture, Adam’s vision introduced curved walls, domes, and ornate plasterwork, the hallmarks of what would become known as the Adam Style.
Fast forward over 250 years, and the mansion is now home to The Lansdowne Club, established in 1935. Elements of Robert Adam’s original interiors remain beautifully preserved, sitting alongside elegant 1930s additions by architect Charles Fox and interior designer Sir Charles Allom, who introduced bold Art Moderne touches to the Club’s unique aesthetic.
This rich blend of classical and modern design provided a fitting backdrop for Grecian Nights, where guests stepped into an evening inspired by ancient myth and midsummer magic. The courtyard came alive with open-air entertainment, Mediterranean flavours, and members dressed in flowing togas and gold accents, a joyful tribute to both history and summer celebration.
Thank you to everyone who joined us for an unforgettable evening. We look forward to sharing more memories and photos with you soon.
