The year of 2017 says goodbye to prim Pilates, dainty aerobics and half assed cardio attempts, making way for fresh fitness trends – butt- kicking workouts with a niche focus. Over the past few months, London has welcomed fitness crazes in the form of Barre, Psycle Spin, Clubbercise and even Hula Hooping classes (claiming to be the ultimate secret to toning those abs), none so calorie busting and fat burning as the ultimate boxing experience.

The craze started with Victoria’s Secret Models (championed by Sara Sampario, Karlie Kloss and Joan Smalls), claiming that the extreme workouts are the secret to those long and lean bodies. As the infatuation with our millennial model community grows, our interest in their exercise routine sustains – that classic “how does she do it?” question we pose to ourselves. From platforms such as Instagram and Snapchat, we now know Victoria’s Secret (pun intended) – boxing. Through brand partnerships models, celebrities and influencers alike are all tapping into the new fitness trend and optimising on the rigorous workouts and fantastic results that the sport has to offer.

The hottest new studios popping up across the Capital offer a holistic sensory experience for members, allowing studios to become destinations in which you can totally immerse yourself and take that step further to push your limits. As the luxury landscape continues to oscillate and transform – it comes more luxurious to invest in experiences rather than objects. Time spent working out makes no exception.

Tapping into this trend is BXR London, the city’s first ever boutique boxing gym that is built to suitably accommodate the most rigorous workouts. Located on Chiltern Street nestled in the heart of Marylebone, the site has a 6-metre-high triple glass frontage and spans a generous 12,000 sq. ft. across ground and lower ground floors.  Designed with member’s experience in mind, a BXR workout is set to be one to remember.

Investing partner Anthony Joshua and the BXR founders have curated a team of elite trainers consisting of London’s most reputable boxing coaches, ex-champion boxers, MMA fighters and some of the top sports therapists and osteopaths. The BXR line-up includes Jamie Reynolds – AJ’s head strength & conditioning coach and Dr Mike Loosemore of CHHP (Centre for Health & Human Performance). BXR is committed to offering its members the same level of advice and consultation that a professional athlete would expect.

At the core of the sparkling new fitness mecca, a full size boxing ring boasts rawness and authenticity. Accompanied by state of the art technology in TPI sound speakers (famed for their residence in Ibiza’s top superclubs), machines from leading brands such as Keiser, Technogym and Wattbike, analytical tools from RNF Digital, in- house clinic consisting of three treatments rooms powered by CHHP and state of the art virtual reality fitness supplied by GymCraft. If the new fitness trend highlights full sensory experience, BXR has it covered.

With a dream team launch committee in place, uber-cool interiors and industry leading training professionals BXR opened their doors for a hugely successful launch part on 25th January, hosted by IBF Heavyweight Champion Anthony Joshua. Welcoming VIP guests such as Guy and Jacqui Ritchie, Henry Holland, Jo Wood, Maryna Linchuk, Leah Wood, Julien Macdonald and a last minute appearance from Paris Hilton.

Previous boxing revivals have seen ringside workouts diluted down and fused with less-contact disciplines such as ballet boxing and feeble attempts at body combat. However, as it stands there’s a growing appetitive for workouts that will offer results and take it from the BXR professionals, butt kicking workouts are the way forward.
